Worshipful Brother William p. Cope

Worshipful Brother William P. Cope, Professor, Principal, Superintendent of Hamilton Schools, Philosopher & Educator and The 58th Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge #17. He was born in Columbiana County, Ohio in 1850 He graduated Hiram College in 1870, taught school in Cleveland for a few years before moving to Hamilton, Ohio he and his wife Rose, had a daughter Ms. Ella Mae Cope who was a teacher herself for 70 years in Hamilton. WB Cope served as Master in 1898 All three are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton

Situated at 724 High St on the main Hamilton Ohio corridor, The Hamilton Masonic Temple is home to the oldest Masonic lodge in Butler County. Founded in 1811 and fully chartered in 1812, the history of Washington Lodge traces its heritage to the very founding of Hamilton and Butler County.
