Worshipful Brother John C. SLayback

​Worshipful Brother John C. Slayback, Educator, Lawyer and 63rd Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge #17. He was born February 16, 1848 in Butler, County Ohio. Taught school for some time before obtaining his law degree & then opened his law firm of Slayback & Shaffer in the early 1900s. His office was located on the corner of 3rd & Buckeye Streets in Hamilton. He served as Master in 1903 he died in 1918 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

Situated at 724 High St on the main Hamilton Ohio corridor, The Hamilton Masonic Temple is home to the oldest Masonic lodge in Butler County. Founded in 1811 and fully chartered in 1812, the history of Washington Lodge traces its heritage to the very founding of Hamilton and Butler County.
