Worshipful Brother George Louthan

Worshipful Brother George Louthan, Pioneer, Builder & Contractor, Marshall of Hamilton and the 42nd Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge #17. He was born in Virginia in 1806 traveled to Hamilton in 1825 and worked as a builder and contractor. He served as the town Marshal during a time lawlessness which included everything from gambling and production and sale of illegal whiskey to political tampering and a series of murders. "Hamilton had been for a long time terrorized by the criminal classes," one account is given that WB Louthan was of a large stature,(which could have contributed to his untimely death at the young age of 56. He served as Master in 1857 and passed away 9 years later. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery his marker bares the square & compasses.  Click the link below to view WB Louthan's final resting place.
