Worshipful Brother Elmer R. Goldsmith, Newspaper Editor, School Teacher, Principal and The 59th Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge #17. WB Goldsmith was born on March 13th 1870 in Overpeck, Ohio. He taught school in Hamilton for about 9 years before becoming the youngest principal to be elected of Columbian School. After Completing his term he resigned his position to pursue a career in the newspaper business in Petoskey, Michigan he died suddenly on June 23rd 1904 in Detroit, Michigan at the young age of 34, he had only been married for 4 years and had served as Master of this lodge just 5 years prior in 1899 he is buried in Collinsville Cemetery in Milford Township, Ohio.

Situated at 724 High St on the main Hamilton Ohio corridor, The Hamilton Masonic Temple is home to the oldest Masonic lodge in Butler County. Founded in 1811 and fully chartered in 1812, the history of Washington Lodge traces its heritage to the very founding of Hamilton and Butler County.
