Most Excellent, Illustrious, & Worshipful Brother Dr. John M. Parks

Most Excellent, Illustrious & Worshipful Brother Dr. John M. Parks, Past Grand Master of Grand Council of Royal & Select Masons of Ohio. Past Grand High Priest of Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio. And the 44th Worshipful Master of Washington Lodge #17. WB Parks was born on January 29th 1810 in Warren, County Ohio. He studied medicine at Ohio Medical College in 1838. Practiced medicine in many places in Ohio starting with Cincinnati first then Hamilton and surrounding areas. He was an ardent Freemasonry and was a member of the York Rite bodies in Cincinnati and served in grand capacity in chapter and council. He served as Worshipful Master five times between 1862-73 He moved to Franklin, Ohio when his second wife Sarah died in 1888 for the last years of his life. He died on May 1st, 1890 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

Situated at 724 High St on the main Hamilton Ohio corridor, The Hamilton Masonic Temple is home to the oldest Masonic lodge in Butler County. Founded in 1811 and fully chartered in 1812, the history of Washington Lodge traces its heritage to the very founding of Hamilton and Butler County.
