Brethren-
Just a quick note that I heard from our friends in Phoenix Lodge in Akaroa, NZ. As you may know, New Zealand suffered a 7.4 earthquake yesterday. WB Tony Crafts let me know that things were OK in Akaroa, which is about 45 miles from Christchurch, just dishes broken and stuff knocked about. However, he said Christchurch is very bad, with much damage and national emergency law in effect. Our thoughts and best wishes were much appreciated. He will let us know if we can be of any assistance. This photo is of Christchurch Square when I was there in June, then now.

We have been continuing the Past Masters Club visitations of shut in brethren.
On August 18 we visited Jim Hammonds. WB Ted Mangold and WB Tom Dawson presented Jim with a 200yr coin numbered to the year Jim was raised. Jim was doing well but was lonely and requested visits and calls. He was very cheered by the visit and by the update on the outside world.
On Aug 25 the visitation was with former secretary Dick Moser. Dick is now 94, doing well, living at home. He was very happy for the visit, and also requested calls to keep up. Unfortunately, he was not aware of the passing of Jim Patrick, who had taken over the reins of Secretary from Dick in 1989.
Please try to turn out for the visitations on non-work Wednesdays.
Fraternally, WB Tom Dawson
